About OEC/OFC

Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) and Outdoor First Care (OFC) are the first aid standards of training taught by the National Ski Patrol.

Spring Mountain Ski Patrol is a PA EMS Continuing Education Sponsor and can give ConEd credits to those who attend or instruct our OEC or OFC classes and have an EMS certification.

OEC at Spring Mountain

All patrollers at Spring Mountain must be certified as OEC Technicians and refresh annually to wear the uniform and patrol.

An OEC class is taught annually at Spring Mountain for patroller-candidates. Usually the class runs from the beginning of September through December. It meets Wednesdays evenings and Saturdays.

An OEC refresher for experienced patrollers is held annually on the second Saturday of November.

OFC at Spring Mountain

All mountain hosts at Spring Mountain must be certified as OFC Technicians and refresh annually to wear the patch and patrol.

An OFC refresher/class is taught annually at Spring Mountain for Mountain Hosts. Usually this class is in the Fall.
